Did You Know? 2.0

Here’s a great way to round out 2007 and ponder 2008. The original version was entitled “Shift Happens” (quaint) and was narrated. I think they took a great idea and improved it even more. Thought provoking, contemplative, sobering, poignant…with music captures the essence of the video very gracefully.

The original version of this presentation was created for a Colorado (USA) high school staff of 150 in 2006 to start a conversation about what our students need to be successful in the 21st century. By June 2007, it had started more than 5 million conversations around the world.

  • The New York Times published this FIVE page story almost 48 hours ago, yet only 10 (ten) people have Dugg the article as of this posting…amazing. Maybe holiday shopping has a ring in everyone’s nose (and I do not mean as in body piercing). Or maybe people aren’t considering this to be an epic confrontation that could significantly impact their lives. Ever see the 2004 fictional mini documentary video “Epic 2014: A Futuristic History of the Media“? It contains some amazing similarities with the status quo thus far…definitely worth your 15 minute diversion. Oddly enough, in the video, the NY Times Inc. is posed as the final opponent of “Google-zon”

    P.S. Interesting…found this blog post from MG Spiegler four (4) days prior to the NY Times article above. His slant is that the Facebook vs. Google/Opensocial confrontation is just a microcosm of the larger Microsoft vs. Google war.

    This is a nice practical recap of the 2007 Web 2.0 developments. Google, of course, hogged much of the spotlight with multiple acquisitions and also launching OpenSocial. But Facebook got it’s fair share too by first letting outside developers into its platform, and then by rubbing noses with Microsoft while selling them a 1.6% equity stake for $240 million.
